Amanda,
These are the thinking writer's questions. I'm impressed.
1. How are writers' stories promoted in the publication?
Don't rely on any publications promoting your content.
At E3 I am building a base of writers who write entertaining, enlightening, and empowering content.
We are making E3 synonymous with quality writing from engaging writers. With the further aim to help all our writers develop.
I regularly send the best posts to 'Highly Recommended' on Medium as I believe internal promotion is more impactful.
Unlike other publications, I do not dump articles. I schedule so that writers get a share of sitting at the top of the publication. There are no pinned titles, either.
I am currently waiting for my boost nomination application to be accepted.
Question: How do you see yourself promoting E3?
2. How often do you require writers to submit a story for publication?
There are no requirements. You are free to post whenever you like (albeit these will sit in the schedule). I leave at least 2 days between posting the same author. This is likely to increase as the publication grows and the goal is to limit articles to six of the best per day.
3. Lastly, can writers submit pieces they've already independently published or do you accept drafts only?
Drafts only, please. Articles sit in the timeline they were posted so it's pointless to add articles that will sit unseen way down the list.
I've seen Medium writers come and go. I'll be around for a long time. I love this place. I don't get paid for running a pub or editing. But I am being selfish - doing these has helped improve my writing. That's why I am here. I'm not fussed about boosting my profile, I'm aware of the negatives that come with that.
Lastly, can you promise me you will let me know what any other publication replies if you ask them the same questions? Out of morbid interest.
Kind regards
Malky
