I agree with you wholeheartedly.
I also wondered if you were referring to my recent article (This Publication Rejected Two of My Most Informative Stories)?
I'm hoping not because I was clear in my article that "Getting rejected is the best thing that can happen to me (and you)."
I embrace it. It's good to stop, take stock and learn. . Rejection has made me a better writer - and there is always more to learn.
I said it in my article, "It has forced me to rethink. It has forced me to learn. It has forced me to improve. For that, I am truly grateful."
I've spent a great deal more time rewriting one of those articles (because I think the information is super useful for writers) and resubmitted it. And it is so much the better for it.
It isn't easy to criticise your own work. But I think it is a must. You, too, have helped me in the past - seeing your writing through the eyes of an editor is feedback gold.
