I always liked your democratic boost idea “Recommend this story to my followers.” Although, I can see unintended consequences.

The boost programme isn't perfect. For my part, I see that it has improved the standard of articles. Editors are taking a greater interest in helping writers improve. This should encourage more readers and writers to join.

People have always left Medium. I estimated only 8% are still here after five years. Yet, the platform has grown subscribers.

There will always be people taking more from the trough than others. but if we grow the trough everyone benefits.

It is still possible to do okay without getting boosted. Some of my best performing articles never received a boost.
