I liked this story - great piece of advice.

I used to tell my staff, "I've made a decision." Often that decision was to do nothing. But police being police, they wanted to do something, so I told them to increase the size of the cordon (effectively do nothing) or stand there and make sure no one gets past without my say so - again nothing. :-)
