I read the intro and missed the reference to John Batman. I came off wondering why it was in the headline and had to go back to see what I'd missed. Perhaps that is down to my poor reading?

I actually liked the bit about the hook-turn, ex-police you see, we used to criticise drivers for it. Maybe not everyone will get it.

I agree with the others that it needed a stronger start. From 'Getting around' it was an enjoyable read.
