I've paid for the odd coffee for an exceptional article. Most of the time I, rightly or wrongly, think 'you should be buying me a coffee for making me read that'. The writers I read and respect most don't tend to ask for a tip.

I'd happily buy you a coffee and cake... or a beer. If we met in person. But then I'd have the pleasure of your company.
