As an aside, in my rebellious final six months at work, I came back from holiday to thousands of emails. I deleted all of them. If they were important, they’d get back to me. One of my two bosses messaged me to say he noticed I had deleted his emails without reading them. (They can do that).

In an inspired moment, I told him I had received the same emails from my other boss and the senior boss, and I didn’t consider it productive to read the same info 3 times. "Was there anything you thought I missed, sir?" - he deleted it without reading it. ;-)
