I ordered some books to proof read and extra to give away. At a ceilidh, my friend sold what I had left direct after bumming me up. Bookstores won't have you unless they are selling your books. They can order copies through Amazon, but your margins are cut to pieces. I sold a dozen that way from a gift shop on Mull - that made me 4p per book (less tax).
My friend did vanity publishing, spent £2k and now has a chair of his books to sit on when he writes. Your efforts will be better spent on social media. It's cheap/free, easy, less time consuming and a great way to get you out there. Once you get picked up by a publisher, do all the book signings then.
