I like to mention Trump as the epitome of what can happen. One question I ask of his supporters is -

How can you justify supporting someone who set up a childrens charity and stole all the money for his own purposes?

How?

Under what possible circumstance is that okay. Without mentioning any of the other reprehensible things, how can you justify that.

And yet, Trump supporters deny it. What does that say about them?
